Autodesk Backburner 2019 Download

 

The Autodesk 3ds Max 2019 installer package no longer contains Backburner. Backburner is still available as part of an entitlement to 3ds Max, but the installer has to be obtained separately through the Autodesk App Store. This aligns the Backburner deployment experience with other Autodesk Media and Entertainment products.

Issue:

Unable to download Backburner 2019 from the Autodesk App Store via the 'Download' button. The file that is downloaded is not a recognizable file format in Windows.

Causes:

Browser download options have changed for some file formats or webpages.

Solution:

To resolve the unrecognized download format:
  1. Ensure the downloaded file extension format is that of a ZIP file (*.zip).

  1. If the downloaded file is not shown as a ZIP file, manually edit the file name to include the *.zip extension.
    • For example, the Backburner 2019 download should be renamed: backburner2019.0.0_5.zip
  2. After adding the correct file extension to the filename, the download should be recognized in Windows and allow for the folder contents to be unzipped.
    • Note: It is also required to unzip the Backburner.cab folder. A user can then utilize the Setup.exe and Backburner.msi installer files without error.
