Go to Device Manager, under Portable Devices, right-click on MTP USB Device, and then click on Update Driver Software to update the MTP USB device driver. Image A-3: The two options for upating MTP USB device driver. Select 'Browse my computer for driver software' to locate and install MTP USB device driver software manually.

Windows 10 suddenly stopped recognizing MTP Device, Sony Walkman.
Tried reinstalling device driver, but it did not work.
Device manager says it is now an 'Unknown Device'
Device status: 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

I clicked on Update Driver (both Internet & local computer a couple of times).
Error box indicates:
'Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software.'
However, the Sony website simply says that the drivers are on Windows 10, and does not provide them.. Their troubleshooting recommended uninstalling device in Device manager, and then letting computer recognize device anew. That did not work. Any fixes?
